Derived Statistics

Damage
* How much physical damage this character deals in combat. The statistic changes depending on whether a melee or ranged weapon is equipped.
Affected by level, class, Strength if using melee or Dexterity if using ranged.

Hit
* Chance to hit enemy in combat.
Affected by level, class, Dexterity.

Evade
* Chance to evade being hit by an enemy in combat.
Affected by level, class, Dexterity.

Armor
* How much physical damage this character can ignore in combat. It has both a minimum and maximum value, as determined by an armor roll made during combat.
Armor scales with hero level, so 1 Armor Point for a level 1 character means between -0 and -1 damage reduction, but for a level 20 hero it translates to between -1 and -2 damage reduction, thus Armor Points are always valuable regardless of increase in HP. Armor does not protect against magical/elemental attacks.
Affected by equipment.

Arcane
* This statistic is exclusive to magic users. It affects spell mastery levels, so it determines which spells a character can use and with what efficiency. It determines the spells a character can use and their efficiency.
Affected by level, class, Knowledge.

Resistances

Resistances are divided between damage resistances and damage resistances (protects from damage) and status resistances (protects from status). The resistance value is checked against the monster level that causes it, and then a resistance roll is made (explained in detail in the tooltip). In general, it's the best to have a resistance at least equal to the monster level for maximum effectiveness.

There are 4 sources of magical damage Fire, Cold, Lightning, Sorcery. Having resistance to a specific source reduces the damage the character takes from that source.
Additionally, Fire resistance reduces environmental damage from Lava, Cold resistance reduces environmental damage from Frost, and Lightning resistance reduces damage from magical barriers.

There are 6 negative status effects caused by monsters in combat, but only 4 status resistances (some resistances cover 2 effects). Having a resistance to a specific effect increases the chances to prevent the status effect being applied. It's important to note that if a character is already suffering from an effect, gaining a resistance won't remove or nullify its effects. For example, equipping an item granting poison resistance while already poisoned won't have any effect.

List of status resistances:
* Poison Resistance protects from Poisoned status.
* Confusion Resistance protects from Confused and Mesmerized status.
* Fear Resistance protects from Afraid status.
* Paralysis Resistance protects from Paralyzed and Petrified status.

List of negative status effects:
* Poison (Poison Resistance) - suffer damage over time, it's the only effect that has a chance of being removed on its own over time
* Confused (Confusion Resistance) - significantly reduced hit and critical hit chance, character can't use magic, status automatically removed when resting
* Mesmerized (Confusion Resistance) - can't use special ability, can't use magic
* Afraid (Fear Resistance) - chance to skip a turn in combat; reduced hit chance and damage dealt
* Paralyzed (Paralysis Resistance) - character can't act
* Petrified (Paralysis Resistance) - character can't act and won't receive any damage
* Weakened (no resistance) - all revived characters get this status, it lowers character's strength and dexterity by 50%, status automatically removed when resting

Encumbrance

Encumbrance shows the total encumbrance of all equipped items. If exceeded the character faces significant penalties.

It's described in detail in chapter "8. Items".
